First published in 1960,
CONTACT is the leading journal of pastoral studies within the United
Kingdom.
Its aim is to contribute to the development of pastoral studies
and practical theology by publishing creative articles which report
good practice, and which offer fresh theoretical and practical insights
in this area.
CONTACT is multidisciplinary, with contributions drawn from counselling,
social work, psychology, sociology, ethics, as well as pastoral
and practical theology.
CONTACT is an ideal journal for those involved in pastoral practice
and for those who reflect on practical theology within an academic
context.
CONTACT is published three times a year. Each issue includes a number
of articles as well as short reviews of recently published books
relevant to this area.
CONTACT also publishes a separate Monograph annually which provides
an opportunity for a more in-depth discussion of a particular issue.
This website provides further information on the content of the
journal, how to submit articles for publication in the journal,
and how to subscribe to it or order individual issues or monographs. |
"CONTACTis
an excellent resource in a field where there seem to be few signposts.
It is not only interdisciplinary but international in its focus,
and keeps the horizons of pastoral studies without sacrificing depth
and rigour."
The Most Rt Revd Rowan Williams,
Archbishop of Canterbury
“CONTACT
is a journal which exhibits all that is best about practical theology
– stimulating, innovative, light on its feet, often surprising,
always making connections.
I commend it most warmly.”
Rt Revd John Pritchard,
Bishop of Jarrow
“CONTACTis
a journal that values academic scholarship, innovative styles of
theological discourse and deep engagement with practice.
As such it is a powerful resource for pastoral agents, students
and teachers - as well as being a very good read.”
Dr Heather Walton,
Lecturer in Practical Theology
